Tea cup from Tachikui-Yaki in Sasayama City, Hyougo Prefecture.
Tachikui ware is one of Japan's Six Ancient Kilns. Together with Bizen, Tamba, Echizen, Seto, and Tokoname, Tachikui is considered to be one of the most outstanding Japanese kilns with traditions that remain even today.

I was hesitant to buy this, since it doesn't look exciting in the photos...
But it is stunning, with a creamy yellowish glow and a lovely smooth texture. The rim has a classic Tamba Tachikui metal glaze. The texture reminds me of an ostrich egg. (yes, I have had this cup teasingly compared to an egg by a few people)
The heat distribution is just amazing!
This is not a photogenic cup, so don't be fooled! This is a stunner with subtle features, bubbles under the glaze and crazing.
