Seto ware’s founding lineage traces back to Kagemasa Kato (Shirozaemon Kato), revered as the ancestral potter of Seto.
The present head of the family, the 31st-generation Kato Tozaburo (KOUJI), descends from this line and has inherited the role of official kiln for the Owari Tokugawa family.
