Born in the family of an Agano-yaki potter in Fukuoka Prefecture.
Independently, he built a kiln called "Shinyou". He has devoted himself to the natural way of pottery making, firing in an anagama (an open kiln) fueled by red pine wood rather than gas or electricity, making everything from clay to glaze by hand as his predecessors used to do.

In 1995, His works were acquired by the British Museum in England,
Kouzuru won a prize at the International Salon of Contemporary Art in Spain, and was presented to President Jacques Chirac of France and Hisako Takamado, Princess of Japan.
His work has won prizes at Nitten, Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition, Mainichi Ceramic Art Exhibition, etc., and has been exhibited in many solo exhibitions.
