Japanese Wooden Sake Cup by Shigemichi Aomine

$14.00

A beautifully crafted wooden sake cup by Japanese wood artist Shigemichi Aomine.

The softly rounded form fits comfortably in the hand, while the natural grain of the wood gives each piece its own distinctive character.
The warm reddish-brown tones and smooth finish create a simple yet refined appearance, highlighting the natural beauty of the material.

Shigemichi Aomine (1916–2001) was a Japanese woodcraft artist and painter from Kagawa Prefecture.

From the 1950s through the 1980s, he produced works distinguished by their highly original forms within the field of Japanese woodcraft.
His work is characterized by a free, unconventional approach and a strong sculptural quality. His works are held in public collections including the **National Crafts Museum** (formerly the Crafts Gallery of the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo).

A label on the bottom of each sake cup indicates the type of wood and its place of origin.
