This tea cup is decorated using a traditional Japanese technique called icchin, in which liquid clay, slip, or glaze is squeezed through a fine nozzle to create raised lines and patterns on the surface.
The black raised lines on this cup are made with glaze.
The exterior surface is unglazed, while the inside of the cup is glazed.
