Antique Wooden Owan Bowl - Testusabi Iron Rusty Lacquerware 734

$29.00 $35.00

We have run out of stock for this item.

This unique lacquerware is called TETSUSABI (iron rust lacquering) , a traditional Aizu lacquerware technique.
Exceptional presence and texture.

The vessel is carefully covered with layers of rusty lacquer (sabi-urushi: raw lacquer mixed with whetstone powder)
Traditional patterns of plum and bush warbler are applied in a three-dimensional manner with rusty lacquer.
In recent years, the production of TETSUSABI technique has declined dramatically due to a lack of craftsmen and the time and effort required to produce it.
High-end lacquerware.
