About Hida Shunkei Lacquerware:
After 5–6 years of natural wood drying, each piece is shaped by a woodworker and passed to a lacquer artisan. The surface is then finished through multiple rounds of rubbing, priming, and coating, a process that takes 3 to 4 months. The result is durable, elegant, and deeply colored lacquerware.
Why this is special:
Unlike modern mass-produced lacquerware made of plastic or resin, this plate is made from real wood.
(Plastic sinks in water — real wood floats.)
This is genuine Japanese craftsmanship, not imitation.
