10.8cm / Japanese Antique Lacquerware | Sakazuki Sake Cup

$28.00

An elegant antique Japanese lacquerware vessel known as a hiki-sakazuki, a shallow wooden sake cup traditionally used during kaiseki meals in the Japanese tea ceremony.

Decorated with exceptionally delicate maki-e, a refined Japanese lacquer technique in which gold or silver powder is sprinkled onto wet lacquer to create intricate decorative motifs.

Its exceptionally thin form and refined lacquer finish make it equally suited as a delicate small plate for contemporary table presentations. Beautiful piece. piece.
Though over 100 years old, this lacquerware remains in remarkably beautiful condition.
