Shunsuki Mukunoki
Born in Masuda City, Shimane Prefecture in 1942.
Studied under a legendary potter Kanjiro Kawai for 10 years at Gojozaka, Kyoto
When Kanjiro Kawai died in 1966, he spent a year in mourning and suspended production,
but resumed production the following year.
In 1974, he built a kiln in Toyooka City, Hyogo Prefecture.
In 1996, he changed his name to Shunsui, and in 2001, he changed the name of his kiln to
Benitate Kiln.
As the last direct disciple of Kawai Kanjiro, he inherited the folk art (Mingei) style pottery.
* This vase is made after 1996, so the signature is Shunsui (春水).
