This Bizen ware vase is a single, one-of-a-kind piece with a square form, fired in a traditional wood-burning kiln without glaze. The surface is shaped entirely by flame, ash, and the natural properties of iron-rich Bizen clay during a long, high-temperature firing.
Subtle ash buildup, fire scars, and tonal transitions from reddish-brown to charcoal gray and pale ash white appear organically across the surface. These marks are not decorative effects, but direct records of the kiln environment and the vase’s position during firing.
