This sake bottle is crafted by Kousen Sueishi (born 1926), a Bizen ware ceramist who trained under the Kuroda prefecture’s Living National Treasure Fujiwara Rakuzan II, established his own kiln in 1972, and has received multiple awards at the Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition.
Made from iron-rich Hiyose clay and fired unglazed in a climbing kiln, the piece exhibits typical Bizen ware effects: natural ash patterns, sesame‑seed spots, and charcoal markings produced during long wood heat firing
