This 20 cm tall ceramic vase was crafted by Matajiro Kawamura (1930–2006), son of Kitaro Kawamura, who inherited the historic Kichurō kiln in Kamakura. When Kitaro passed away in 1966, Matajiro took over the kiln and faithfully continued its traditions, developing a refined style of his own.

About the Artist
Matajiro Kawamura (1930–2006) was the son of Kitaro Kawamura, the successor of the Kichurō kiln established by Kitaōji Rosanjin in Kamakura. Upon his father’s death in 1966, Matajiro inherited the kiln and preserved its artistic philosophy.
