Banko-yaki boasts a history of more than 300 years, and has built up a distinctive character over these long years.
The first characteristic of Banko-yaki is that it is classified as “semi-porcelain” (between porcelain and ceramics).
It contains a large amount of iron, which makes it extremely hard, strong, and water-resistant.
Banko-yaki does not use glazes, but rather makes use of the colors of the raw materials themselves.
