Small plate by Yasuoki Kumagae, the 16th-generation head of the Kumagai Main Kiln, the principal kiln of Agano Ware, based in Fukuchi, Fukuoka Prefecture.
He is a Government-Certified Traditional Craftsman specializing in Agano Ware.
The plate features a calm blue-green glaze, reflecting the refined elegance for which Agano Ware is known. Its rim is finished with five gently shaped notches, adding a subtle decorative accent to its graceful silhouette.

YASUOKI KUMAGAE
1940 – Born as the eldest son of Konyo Kumagai, the 15th-generation head of the Kumagai Main Kiln.
1962 – Studied under Seimei Tsuji in Tokyo.
1965 – Selected for the Seibu Crafts Exhibition. (Continued to be selected in subsequent years; received the Asahi Excellence Award and six other awards.)
1969 – Selected for the Mainichi Ceramic Art Exhibition. (Continued to be selected in subsequent years.)
1970 – Selected for the Japan Traditional Art Crafts Exhibition. (Continued to be selected in subsequent years.)
1971 – Selected for the Japan Ceramic Art Exhibition.
1973 – Recommended as a Full Member of the Japan Kōgei Association.
1975 – Succeeded as the 16th-generation head of the Kumagai Main Kiln, the principal kiln of Agano Ware.
1984 – Certified as a Government-Certified Traditional Craftsman.
1990 – Presented a flower vase (hanaire) to Crown Prince Akishino, a tea caddy (chaire) to Emperor Akihito, and a flower vase (hanaire) to Crown Prince Naruhito.
1996 – A work was acquired by the Fukuoka Prefectural Museum of Art.
