This unique lacquerware is called TETSUSABI (iron rust lacquering) , a traditional Aizu lacquerware technique.
Exceptional presence and texture. Stunning piece.
The vessel is carefully covered with layers of rusty lacquer (sabi-urushi: raw lacquer mixed with whetstone powder)
Traditional patterns of plum and bush warbler are applied in a three-dimensional manner with rusty lacquer, and Mother of pearl shell are used as accents.
In recent years, the production of TETSUSABI technique has declined dramatically due to a lack of craftsmen and the time and effort required to produce it.
Rare and High-end lacquerware.
