Old tableware by Kitaro Kawamura.
The decoration on these plates are pine needles from the Matsu( Pine tree) which are used at times of celebration in Japan.

Kitaro Kawamura (1899-1966)
1899 : Born in Kyoto
1950 : Attracted by the clay of Sanage, he moved his studio from Gojozaka, Kyoto to Hiradobashi in Aichi Prefecture.
He completed a unique style of pottery that gave the impression of earthy earthenware, a complete change from the delicate colored porcelain he had been making.
1961 : Kitaro took over the wood-fired kiln "Kichuyo” built by Rosanjin Kitaoji in Kamakura City.
Kitorao’s son Matahiro Kawamura and grand son Kifumi Kawamura are also potters.
