Sinsha-glaze is that fires green or light blue when fired in oxidizing firing, and red or reddish purple when fired in reducing firing.
When a small amount (1-2%) of copper is added to a transparent foundation glaze and reduction firing is performed, a blood red cinnabar glaze is produced. Black cuprous oxide and copper carbonate are used as raw materials for glazes, but when fired in a reducing flame, they become red cuprous oxide.
