A rare tea cup from the renowned Otaru Kiln in Hokkaido, Japan.
This kiln, famed for its brilliant blue-green glaze, operated for 107 years until its closure in 2007 due to a lack of successors. As the oldest pottery studio in Hokkaido—Hakusei Tōen —Otaru Kiln created pieces beloved by connoisseurs across Japan.
With the kiln now closed and no future production planned, works from Otaru Kiln are becoming increasingly rare and valuable. This tea cup is a particularly stunning example of their legacy—a collector’s item that will never be made again.
